Level test

International House Company Training offers a free level testing service to our clients. The test result is expressed in ALTE/CEF terms and provides reliable working information on a person's current level of language competence. This tells us where their next language course should start from and also provides us with wider information on several aspects of their language profile.

The test has two sections: one written and the other oral. The written part can be sent by email for maximum flexibility, while the oral interview can be done either face to face or on the phone. This second component not only tells us about the level of a person's oral interaction, but also allows us to articulate and analyse their learning needs and objectives.

For company group classes, one of the main purposes of the level test is to form groups that are as homogeneous as possible, are able to work well together and achieve optimum progress.

The written part of the test usually takes about 30-45 minutes to complete, depending on the learner's level.
